The Work We Do Here ・

Therapy is a space to slow down and make sense of what’s been weighing on you. It helps you understand your thoughts, emotions, and patterns more clearly so you can respond differently instead of reacting.

Over time, therapy supports steadier emotions, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of control over your life.

Learn About Our Services

  • Life can feel really overwhelming, especially when you’re the one everyone else turns to. Individual therapy at Steady Place is designed for those who look “fine” on the outside but feel exhausted and anxious on the inside.

This work is about slowing things down enough to untangle and understand what you’ve been carrying and why certain patterns keep showing up. Together, we’ll explore what’s beneath the stress, how your nervous system responds under pressure, and the parts of you that learned to cope by staying busy, capable, or agreeable. The goal isn’t to fix you — it’s to help you feel steadier and more in control of your life.

Individual therapy is a good fit if you…

✔ feel overwhelmed or burned out

✔ struggle with anxiety or overthinking

    ✔ want honest, direct support

✔ are navigating a major life transition

✔ are open to reflecting on your role and patterns

  • Teenagers today are carrying more than ever. School pressure, identity questions, social media, and constant comparison. Many feel misunderstood, overstimulated, and unsure of how to express what’s going on inside them.

At Steady Place Therapy, teens get a space to be themselves — honest, messy, scared, curious, frustrated, or hopeful — without judgment.

    Together, we explore:

    • big emotions and how to manage them

    • emotional regulation

    • school, sports and/or social pressures

    • confidence, identity and self-worth

    • friendships, family relationships and communication

    • difficult transitions or big life changes

I meet teens exactly where they are, help them understand what they’re feeling, and build tools that actually work in their world — not adult logic disguised as advice.

Teen therapy is a good fit if your teen…

    ✔ feels overwhelmed or anxious

✔ struggles with big emotions or high sensitivity

✔ is pulling away or shuts down easily

    ✔ has trouble communicating

✔ could benefit from extra support during a transition, change or loss

  • Trauma isn’t just the big events; it’s also the life experiences that felt too heavy or too much for your system to handle. The effects of it can show up as anxiety, emotional numbness, irritability, shutdown, nightmares, hyper-vigilance, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

Trauma therapy at Steady Place Therapy is calm, safe, and non-rushed.

    We move at your pace.

    We honor your nervous system.

We prioritize stabilization and safety first — always.

Using EMDR, nervous-system regulation, and relational, attachment-focused therapy, we work together to help you process what’s been stuck and reclaim a sense of steadiness and internal safety and trust.

Trauma therapy is for you if…

✔ you feel stuck in old patterns

✔ your body reacts before your mind understands why

✔ you’ve experienced painful or overwhelming events

✔ you feel numb, on edge, or easily overwhelmed

✔ you want deeper healing, not just surface coping

Trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside you, as a result of what happens to you.” - Gabor Mate

  • Therapy in motion — grounded, calming, and embodied.

Walk & Talk Therapy combines traditional talk therapy with the natural calming benefits of movement and being outdoors. Many people think and feel more clearly while walking. It helps naturally regulate the nervous system, reduce anxiety, and soften emotional overwhelm.

These sessions take place on a peaceful walking route. You don’t need to be athletic — just open to a more embodied way of processing.

Walk & Talk Therapy is ideal if you…

✔ find it easier to talk while moving

✔ feel anxious or overstimulated in traditional office spaces

✔ want a more mindful, grounding experience to therapy

    ✔ prefer a calming, nature-based approach

✔ think better on your feet

  • Support for couples wanting connection, clarity, and steadier communication.

Relationships go through seasons. Some are beautiful, some heavy, some confusing. Couples counseling at Steady Place Therapy is a judgment-free space where both partners can feel seen, heard, and understood.

We utilize the Gottman Method and focus on:

    • communication patterns

    • emotional attunement

    • conflict cycles

    • trust and repair

    • reconnecting after disconnection

    Couples counseling is helpful if…

✔ conversations often turn into arguments

✔ you feel more like roommates than partners

    ✔ you’re struggling with trust

✔ you want to feel closer and more supported

✔ communication feels tense or confusing

  • Focused, accelerated healing for deeper trauma work.

EMDR Intensives offer an extended format for clients who want deeper work in a shorter period of time. Instead of traditional weekly sessions, intensives create intentional space for uninterrupted, focused processing — ideal for trauma, stuck patterns, or experiences that feel unresolved.

    Intensives include:

    • a comprehensive assessment

    • a customized treatment plan

    • extended time EMDR sessions

    • grounding and integration work

    • follow-up support

This structure allows you to move through deeper trauma work without the stop/start rhythm of weekly sessions.

EMDR Intensives might be for you if you…

    ✔ feel stuck in therapy

    ✔ want deeper, faster progress

    ✔ are processing trauma

    ✔ prefer immersive work
